Healthy Snack Options for Rapid Fat Loss

As a fitness expert people always ask me, “What snacks
can I eat that will help me lose ‘this’?” When they say
“this” they are pointing to some part of their body
that has a bit too much fat for their liking.

Now I think some people are waiting for me to say,
“Oh, don’t worry, you can eat cookies, chips and candy
all you want. Everyone has been lying to you.

They actually make you thinner!”
Seriously, people really do want me to tell them what
they WANT to hear.
But, fortunately, some people are serious when they ask
that question. They really do want to know some healthy
snack options for rapid fat loss.

So here’s what I tell them:

Raw almonds, walnuts or pecans (Not the roasted variety.

And don’t even think about the ones with sugar sprinkled on them!)

Fruit or veggies cut up into sticks
(Stay away from dipping them into things you know

Hard boiled eggs

Low-fat cottage cheese

Hummus

When depression sabotages your best efforts

Hello again Everyone

It’s been a while since I’ve posted to my blog and the first thing I’d like to say is I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving & a great start to your holiday season :)

Now what I want to share with you has nothing to do with exercising and what you put in your mouth but it certainly has a profound effect on it.

Most fitness experts talk about the basics when it comes to acheiving optimal health, fat loss, getting a six pack or whatever your goals happen to be.

For example what foods to eat and how much exercise is needed.

But most don’t talk about other factors such as are you happy or what is going on inside your heart and mind.

And I’ve been guilty of this myself.

If you’ve been reading my newsletter you know that I love stairs, hills, bodyweight training, weight training and using the sauna over at Maxim Fitness in Williamsburg Brooklyn.

But you don’t know that I have battled depression my entire life.

I can easily hide it most times because I can smile with the best of them.

And I also happen to love fitness so my passion comes through when I teach people about it.

But there have been times when I could not hide it and had to call in the troops to get me through.

Who are the troops you may ask?  My mother, father, sisters, girlfriend & close friends, GOD & my team of great doctors & therapists.

And I do mean team. I use the services of 2 chiropractors, 2 physical therapists, 1 psychotherapist and a massage therapist.

And recently I went through a tough time that kept me from teaching and running my business.

I can only thank God that I have developed relationships over the years that helped me get through  this time.

I’m proud and happy to say that I can smile again and see sunshine in my life.

On another level I’m grateful for what I learned during this stretch as everything happens for a reason and nothing is coincidence.

And it’s no coincidence that I recently received a special report from Fitness Expert & Author of Fit Over 40, Jon Benson.

The 7 Spiritual Laws of Success

Hey Everyone

The great thing about a blog is that you can basically write what you want and don’t have to stick to a certain theme.

It’s simply an online journal and that is why I started one.

I love to share what I read because as I learn maybe I can help someone else learn something new as well.

What good is learning if you can’t share it and try to help others?

These days I’m reading the 7 Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra and what an amazing little book this is turning out to be.

Here’s my favorite quote so far: “The past is history, the future is mystery, and this moment is a gift.

That is why this moment is called “The Present”

Profound indeed and it really struck deep with me because I love to think about the future which is not a bad thing.

But I’m guilty of doing it and forgetting that I really have to be thankful for what is.

And that is the present moment :)

A great book indeed and it’s really simple reading with great lessons that you can apply to any part of your life :)

Bernard Hopkins Training Secret

At age 40 something Bernard Hopkins beat 26 year old middle weight boxing champion Kelly Pavlik handing him his first ever boxing defeat.

I truly believe this is a testament to Hopkin’s life long committment to stay in top shape year round.

At his age he knows all the tricks of the trade and had the perfect game plan against what many thought (including myself) would be a loss to Kelly Pavlick.

Bravo to you Bernard Hopkins!

Both gentlemen actually have great training regiments as boxers simply have to.

Bernard uses a more traditonal approach to his training but I did catch a big secret that many people don’t use and that is the use of a weighted training suit.

I actually caught Bernard using the power vest which was invented by Candian Fitness Expert, Lebert Veira.

How would I know all this you may ask.

Lebert was kind enough to send me his suit when he learned of my stairs program and my work with elite basketball players.

Unfortunately the vest was the wrong size but the pants were perfect and I put them to use right away.

Besides using them with my hill sprints and stair work I simply wore the weighted pants under my shorts for about a week and actually lost 4 pounds!

I also noticed an increased muscularity in my legs.

Imagine If I had worn the entire suit!

What it takes to be a professional athlete

Hey Everyone

Here’s a video commentary and training footage of my work with pro basketball training prospect Jamael Lynch of Brooklyn, NY.

Jamael exemplifies what it takes to make it as a pro athlete (besides the obvious physical skills).

He’s willing to seek out advice from people who know what they are talking about (and have actually worked with and helped pro athletes succeed)

He’s also willing to do what it takes physically and conform to a schedule to meet the demands of a pro athlete.

Jamael as you will hear & see was put through a tough stair workout that would make anyone puke and went through it like nothing :)

He also met me at the gym at 5AM and was ready and willing to do whatever I asked

Bravo Jamael

Just make sure to get me tickets to your first pro game!

Never stop learning

Hello again Everyone

First of all a big thank you if you were on the coaching call on Thursday night :)

This coming weekend I’m off to rub elbows with,  network with and learn from many of today leading  health & fitness professionals in Stamford Connecticutt.

And if it’s one tip I can give you about acheiving your health & fitness goals its to never rest on
what you already know

You already know how valuable stair training is from  reading my emails, blog posts and even more if you actually use stair training.

But what else could help take your health & fitness to the next levels?

There is always something more you can learn

And I will repeat that

Presently I’m enrolled in a course that cost me close to 3000 dollors but I know its actually a bargain because I know the lifetime value of this course will be worth at least 50 times that

I’m also spending over 500 to attend this weekends conference and for me its a steal and a tremendous
bargain

The main point I want to drive home is to never stop learning

And I really mean that

Never stop learning till the day you die

The Geneva stair study

Hey Everyone

Here’s a recent study on the value of stair training.

I was made aware of it by a gentlemen named Peter Wright from Liverpool England.

Thanks again Peter :)

Now personally I’m more into the anecdotal findings of stair training and feel that we should not wait for a study to prove if it’s worth your time.

As world famous strength coach,  Juan Carlos Santanna of the Institute of Human Performance put it: “You can’t wait for science to prove everything as a lifetime will pass you by”

This comes from a gentlemen that has designed numerouse studies and carries out numerous studies at his Institute for Human Performance.

Your body does a better job of finding what works for you than science will ever do.

But I do check out the research from time to time for the scientific types :)
